50 lbs of Sugar
According to the New York Times, the average American drinks 50 gallons of soda per year. That’s 189 liters. A liter of soda has 129 grams of sugar.
189 liters * 129 g/l = 24400 g, or 24.4 kg or, yes, roughly 50 lbs of sugar per year…JUST FROM SODA…GAHHH!!!!
If you’re wondering, that’s 83,000 calories of soda per year. I think maybe I’ve solved the peculiar mystery of the American waistline.
I’m pretty sure I eat twice my weight in candy…
So this isn’t very concerning.
